I was lucky enough to attend the Academy Awards Nominations announcement live from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences building very early this morning and I wanted to give you a special backstage look at what happens there.
First of all, you enter the building at 5AM and are greeted by very large security officers checking everyone's official ID badges.

Once you get past security, you are greeted by a very nice full breakfast spread including eggs, bacon, bagels, fresh fruit and coffee. There are even some lovely tables to sit down at to enjoy your food.

Once everyone is finished eating and socializing with one another, they allow everyone entry up the stairs into the theater where the reading of the nominations take place.

Once inside the theater, it's pretty chaotic! Everyone is looking for the best seat, discussing what could be snubbed, and anticipating the start of the ceremony.

The actual reading of the nominations was scheduled to begin at exactly 5:38:30AM PT, and it did. The entire reading of the major categories only takes about 2 minutes total.
After the nominations are read, the pool feed area where all of the phones and IT lines are set up for the journalists is stirring with activity.

I had to get a better look at the stage so I decided to get closer to it and grab a quick shot.
While I was near the stage I spotted the producer of this year's ceremonies, Brian Grazer, and decided to get a shot of him too.

And lastly I saw the lovely Jennifer Lawrence doing one of many interviews after she co-presented the nominees.
By 6:05AM I was on my way back to the car having experienced something not too many people get to be a part of!
