'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' Reboot Moves Release Date Back

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Pick up your samurai swords and order some pizzas, because Michael Bay’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot has a brand new release date which will have the film in theaters a little later than audiences expected.
Not much, though, as EW reports the planned re-interpretation of the popular comic-book-and-animated property will now be in theaters on June 6, 2014. (The old date for the TMNT movie was going to me May 16, where it would have competed against Warner Bros. untitled Godzilla project). By moving back, the Turtles have the entire weekend to themselves – for now – though Universal has circled June 13 as a possible release date for a fourth Jurassic Park movie … if that project comes together rapidly.
We expected chatter on the Turtles movie to increase once Bay (who’ll produce) announced on his Web site that former Transformers starlet Megan Fox was joining the cast in an as-yet-unnamed role. That means casting is in full swing around a screenplay that now needs a director.
This updated TMNT story has one significant change in effect … the turtles, from what we are hearing, will now be aliens instead of radioactive mutant creatures. It sort of changes the meaning of the title, but we’re keeping an open mind.
Look for more TMNT news as we get closer to the film’s new release date.
