Taylor Lautner is Stretch Armstrong

Taylor Lautner is Stretch Armstrong

Yes, out of all the possible movies Taylor Lautner could've signed onto following his break-out success co-starring in the Twilight franchise, the dude will join Universal's upcoming Stretch Armstrong movie as Stretch Armstrong himself. In the film, which will be pushed from 2011 to 2012 in order to bring it to audiences in 3D, Lautner will play an uptight spy who winds up stumbling across a stretching formula and now must adjust to everyday life while being able to freakishly stretch his body in all different directions. Stretch Armstrong will be based on the Hasbro toy of the same name, and is part of several films that Universal will make based on Hasbro toys, like Battleship, which also found its release date being pushed back from 2011 to Memorial Day weekend 2012.

Taylor Lautner as Stretch Armstrong

In addition to Stretch Armstrong, Lautner will also star as the title character in Max Steel, based on the Mattel toyline, and the action flick Cancun, about a kid who rescues his friends when they're taken hostage in Cancun. Obviously, unlike Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, Lautner is using his newfound fame to star in bigger, tentpole vehicles instead of smaller indies. Part of this could be due to Lautner's extensive martial arts background, which should totally come in handy when he slides into these action-orientated roles.

What do you think? Do you like Taylor Lautner in action films and in movies based on toys? Or would you rather see him star in smaller, more complex indie films like his Twilight counterparts?
