Taylor Lautner's film career outside of the Twilight franchise hasn't been all the successful. Following an unsuccessful foray into the action thriller genre with Abduction, Lautner scrapped any future roles involved with the genre. Additionally, he dropped out of the Stretch Armstrong adaptation when the film was picked up by Relativity.
So the question now remains, where does Lautner go after Twilight wraps up? His other co-stars, Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson are quickly finishing a number of projects. Stewart will star in the indie film On the Road, based on Jack Kerouac's novel as well as headline Universal's Snow White tentpole, Snow White and the Huntsman. Pattinson is going the indie route with Bel Ami and David Cronenberg's Cosmopolis already completed.
So where does that leave Lautner? THR is reporting that the actor is currently in talks with Adam Sandler's Happy Madison production company to play a "key, fun role" opposite Sandler and company in Grown Ups 2.
Most of the cast from the first film including Sandler, Kevin James, Chris Rock, David Spade, Maya Rudolph and Salma Hayek are returning as well as director Dennis Dugan. The 2010 comedy about a bunch of childhood friends who reunite after their high school basketball coach dies was critically jeered but still managed to score a healthy $271 million worldwide.
No word on what this role is exactly, but do you think Lautner has the chops to pull off a comedic role?
