'Star Wars' Rumor: Harrison Ford Will Play Han Solo in J.J. Abrams' 'Episode VII'

Ever since Disney announced that a third Star Wars trilogy was about to head into production, rumors about potential plot directions and casting decisions have bounced around the Web. Solid news items slowly dropped, none larger than J.J. Abrams stepping into the director’s chair for Star Wars: Episode VII
This one is bigger.
Latino Review, a trusted source for superhero and fanboy news items, is going on record to say that Harrison Ford officially will return as Han Solo for the new film. Amazing. This comes on the heels of the news that Solo could be the focus of a standalone movie that would be directed by a different filmmaker in addition to the trilogy that Abrams plans to launch. LucasFilm revealed sprawling plans to expand the Star Wars cinematic universe with new Star Wars movies and standalone features. If we’re getting original stars like Ford to reprise their roles, fans of Lucas’ movies – and of popcorn blockbusters, in general – are going to lose their minds.
Right now, it’s an unconfirmed news report, though is a trusted source that gets the majority of its scoops correct. It will be interesting now to see if Abrams, Disney or someone in Ford’s camp steps forward to confirm the actor’s involvement in the new trilogy.
But let’s speculate. Assuming Ford is coming back to play Han Solo in a new Star Wars movie, whom else would you like to see back in their parts? Should Mark Hamill or Carrie Fisher join him as older versions of Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia? And if these characters are coming back, are there storylines from the Star Wars novels that now seem like natural fits for the basis of the new trilogy?
