Stallone Wants to Know: What Do You Think of Mel Gibson Directing 'Expendables 3'?

By all accounts, Sylvester Stallone is currently busy piecing together the latest installment of his action-packed nostalgia-fest known as The Expendables. We hadn't heard from him for about a month, when he hinted at several new character types in The Expendables 3. We can guess that by now that at least a first draft has been completed and now Stallone is turning to his Twitter followers once again for suggestions on who should direct.

It started out as a joke with Stallone asking about Mel Gibson directing The Expendables 5, but he followed up an hour later with a tweet asking about Gibson as a potential director for The Expendables 3.

Fan reaction has been mixed given Gibson's volatile past. The actor/director certainly has experience with the action genre and has a couple of Oscars to boot for Braveheart.

As the summer movie season ramps up and Stallone continues to fine-tune his script, look for potential casting additions to be announced in the next few months. There are rumors that Jackie Chan, Wesley Snipes and Nicolas Cage are potential additions to the film, but nothing has been confirmed.

Do you think Gibson should direct the three-quel? If not, who should and would you be more or less inclined to see a Gibson-directed Expendables
