If there's any subject that seems like perfect movie fodder it's the fantastically dramatic and visually stunning Cirque du Soleil. On December 21, Cirque du Soleil: Worlds Away comes to a theater near you starring performers from the various shows in a drama set against a variety of Cirque styles and acts – if you’ve never had the chance to see a Cirque show, now is your chance.
Fandango was invited to Las Vegas for a six-minute preview and interviews with the producers and star Erica Linz about the film, whose plot is still under wraps but involves a young woman who falls for a circus performer and slips with him into a strange, dreamy underworld where they get separated; they spend the movie looking for each other while experiencing seven Cirque-themed worlds. Like the shows, the film eschews dialogue for expression through music, dance and performance -- and what better way to showcase a Cirque movie than with James Cameron's Avatar technology? Cameron's company co-produced the film and supplied his FUSION 3D camera system to capture the immersive feeling of the shows, and the results really are nothing short of spectacular (our preview showed an undersea scene with jellyfish that's not to be believed).
We'll have a more complete rundown next month, including video interviews and photos, but for now check out four new posters from the film, below, and check movie times for advance tickets available now. Click on the posters to enlarge.
