Should ‘Breaking Dawn’ Add 3D?

So now that Eclipse has made a killing at the box office, and we know The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn will be split into two movies, we have to move on to the obligatory question: Will ‘Breaking Dawn’ be shot in 3D? One clue as to whether Summit Entertainment is even considering has arrived courtesy of MTV, who spoke to the man directing Drive Angry 3D for Summit.

'Eclipse'On 3D and how Summit is utilizing it, Drive Angry 3D director Patrick Lussier said, “"I think Summit has been discovering, as they've been seeing the 3-D material and the ease we've been able to work with it, is that it's an incredibly viable format to work in." That said, I have a feeling the big decision will come down to fan reaction on blogs like this one. Richard Fay, the man in charge of distribution for Summit, even admitted as much when asked which films will go 3D and which won’t. He notes, “A big factor is the perception of our audience. What are their feelings going to be? If it lends itself to being a better movie because of 3-D, then that's the technology we'll use."

Is Breaking Dawn the sort of film that belongs in 3D, though? Do any of the Twilight films belong in 3D? To me, these films don’t scream 3D. They’re more about character relationships and the occasional vampire fight than they are about wowing us with visuals. Of course, adding 3D to a film like Breaking Dawn would probably guarantee it some massive box office records, but hopefully Summit will look past that and listen to what the fans have to say first.

So … what do you fans have to say? With execs at Summit probably reading your comments, what do you think about Breaking Dawn going 3D? Would you see it in 3D, or do you think it adds nothing to the final product?
