Sequels: 'Iron Man 3' Details Revealed, 'The Expendables 3' and 'Battle: Los Angeles 2' Teased

While The Avengers will culminate "Stage 1" of the Marvel movie enterprise, it doesn't mean that the comic book studio is done filming their superheroes. Iron Man 3 is the next film that will go in front of the lens and an open casting call for extras and stand-ins has revealed that Scarlett Johansson will return as Black Widow. Additionally, Don Cheadle and Gwyneth Paltrow will reprise their roles along with, of course, Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man. Here's the casting announcement:

"Principal actor auditions and extras casting registration is underway for the Walt Disney Studios/Marvel Studios superhero feature film "Iron Man 3". Shooting will take place in the Wilmington, NC area and other locations in North Carolina from May 21, 2012 through September 7, 2012. The film's main stars are being cast out of Los Angeles, however many supporting and day player acting roles will be cast in North Carolina. All of the extras, photo-doubles and stand-ins for the films stars will be cast in North Carolina."
"Two-time Academy Award nominated Robert Downey Jr. will reprise his roles as as Tony Stark, an industrialist and master engineer who builds a powered exoskeleton and becomes the technologically advanced superhero, Iron Man. Scarlett Johansson will return from "Iron Man 2" playing Natasha Romanoff aka "The Black Widow", and Gwyneth Paltrow plays Stark's closest friend, love interest, and business partner Pepper Potts. Don Cheadle, who replaced Terrence Howard after the first "Iron Man", returns as Lt. Colonel James "Rhodey" Rhodes - Stark's personal pilot, chief aviation engineer for Stark International, and one of Stark's closest friends."
Randy Couture has sparked rumors that there will be a third Expendables movie set to shoot this fall. In an interview with BJJAddict (the video is queued to The Expendables quote), Couture said that, "we're probably going to start shooting The Expendables 3 in the fall after The Expendables 2 comes out in August."
This is the first mention of a third movie in the franchise and while much depends on how The Expendables 2 performs and whether Lionsgate and Sylvester Stallone want to prolong the franchise, we'll throw the question out there: If there is indeed a third Expendables movie on the way, who should be added to the cast?
While doing the press tour for Wrath of the Titans, director Jonathan Liebesman dropped word that work has begun on a script for a sequel to Battle: Los Angeles. Liebesman, who is set to direct Michael Bay's controversial Ninja Turtles movie said, "We have just begun the script. Just because I don't want the studio to get pissed at me, I'm not sure what I can and can't say about it. But what's exciting is it sounds like the budget will be big. They're really going to make it an event."
Battle: Los Angeles barely broke even domestically. Plagued with so-so reviews, the film managed to cull $83.5 million against a $70 million budget. Foreign markets helped boost the final numbers to $211 million worldwide. If script work has just begun, we should probably expect to see a second Battle: Los Angeles hit theaters sometime in 2014.
