Sequel Madness: 'Bad Boys 3', 'Rambo 5' and 'Halloween 3-D'

Today is obviously a day for sequel announcements, as word has come down from the Hollywood heavens above that three more franchises are doling out unnecessary sequels because, well, why the heck not. Let's break down the news:

Bad Boys 3: Though Michael Bay, Will Smith and Martin Lawrence are not currently signed on to shovel out a third installment in the buddy-cop action franchise, Peter Craig has been hired to write a script in the hopes it will entice all three men to come back for another go-round. This time we expect Michael Bay to serve us a film that's over three hours, with two and half of those hours in super slo-mo as explosions are seen (and felt) in the distance. [The Hollywood Reporter]
Rambo 5: And speaking of unnecessary explosions, Sylvester Stallone will once again reprise his role as John Rambo for another sequel in his own action franchise – this time focusing on a plot that involves Rambo rescuing a kidnapped girl at the U.S./Mexico border. The fifth installment is reportedly heading into production early next year with a release date (we imagine) of early Spring 2011? [Variety]
Halloween 3D – What happens when your horror sequel loses out to the 3D gimmick of another horror sequel at the box office over the weekend? Well, it's quite simple: You swipe the gimmick and announce your own sequel in 3D for the following summer. Yup, with not much room to grow from here, The LA Times tells us that Bob Weinstein and Dimension are going to churn out a third craptastic Halloween movie … but this time they'll get you to see it because Michael Myers will be killing people in 3D! Not since Freddy butchered unsuspecting teens in Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare have fans been so unexcited for a 3D horror sequel. Eh, what can you do – Halloween 3D will hit theaters next summer minus director Rob Zombie (which I guess is the good news out of all this). [The LA Times]
Which sequel are you looking – or not looking – forward to the most?
