Scoop This: The Rock in 'G.I. Joe 2,' 'Freaky Deaky' Casting and Naomie Harris as Bond Girl?

The Rock Joins 'G.I. Joe 2'

Casting for the untitled sequel to G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra has begun. Channing Tatum appears set to reprise his role as Captain Duke Hauser and will join Ray Park's Snake Eyes and Byung-hun Lee's Storm Shadow. Rachel Nichols revealed via Twitter in early March that a majority of the characters, including her Shana 'Scarlett' O'Hara, would not be returning for a second go-around. Other cast/characters out include Marlon Wayans' Ripcord, Sienna Miller's Baroness, Deniss Quaid's Hawk, along with Zartan, Heavy Duty and Cobra himself, played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
Yesterday, news broke that Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson was set to join the cast. The actor, fresh off a supporting role in 2011's highest grossing movie to date, Fast Five, is in talks to play Roadblock, one of the more prominent African-American characters in the series. His primary function is as a heavy machine gunner and is also a gourmet cook. So, can you smell what The Rock is cookin'?
'Freaky Deaky' Casting
The cast for the adaptation to Elmore Leonard's Freaky Deaky is starting to take shape. Last week, Matt Dillon, Brendan Fraser and Craig Robinson joined the cast which already includes William H. Macy and Sienna Miller. The story follows a pair of 60's radicals (Fraser and Miller) who use their bomb-making skills to con drunk movie producer Woody Ricks (Macy) out of his fortune. Dillion will play the lead role of Chris Mankowski, an LAPD bomb squad officer who uncovers the activists' threat. Robinson will play Ricks' assistant, a former Black Panther. Charles Matthau will direct and move the setting to the 1980s (as opposed to 1974 in the book). Over 20 Leonard novels have been adapted to film including Get Shorty, Out of Sight and Rum Punch, which Quentin Tarantino changed to Jackie Brown. What do you think of this casting arrangement?
Naomie Harris as Bond Girl?
With filming for James Bond 23 set to begin later this year, the question of who would be the new Bond Girl has been swirling since the 23rd Bond adventure was announced.Freida Pinto, Olivia Wilde and even Megan Fox were rumored for the role over the past couple of years. The latest name added to the casting rumor mill is Naomie Harris. Harris is one of those actresses who has been in notable, blockbuster movies including 28 Days Later, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest and At World's End as well as Michael Mann's Miami Vice. Her last major role was in 2009's Ninja Assassin opposite Korean superstar Rain.
