Scoop This: Jolie as Cleopatra, Burton on Monsterpocalypse and Love-Hewitt as Wonder Woman?

Angelina Jolie to Play Cleopatra?

Angelina Jolie

USA Today reports that producer Scott Rudin has purchased the rights to Stacy Schiff's biography Cleopatra: A Life, and that Angelina Jolie is interested in taking on the lead role. Rudin's office has confirmed they're working on the film, saying it's "being developed for and with Jolie." Schiff's book reportedly covers all of Cleo's dirty little secrets, like her romantic relationships with Julius Caesar and Mark Antony, not to mention the fact that she was the wealthiest ruler of her time. Oh, and did we mention that she was Queen of Egypt at only 18?

Sounds like the perfect role for Jolie, and I wouldn't be surprised if they try to get Brad Pitt in there to play Mark Antony. What do you think?

John August Writing 'Monsterpocalypse' for Tim Burton?

Picture a film featuring tons of giant monsters (we're talking aliens, insects and robots) all coming together to attack modern-day earth. Is that something you'd like to see? Well, what if I told you that Tim Burton may direct it? That's the news from Heat Vision, who report that John August is about to start work on adapting the popular game Monsterpocalypse into a big-screen feature, which may be directed by Tim Burton when it's all said and done. I'm not sure what a film featuring all sorts of giant monsters destroying earth would look like except that, under Burton's control, it'd probably look pretty awesome.

Jennifer Love-Hewitt Really Wants to Be Wonder Woman
Jennifer Love-Hewitt

Though a live-action Wonder Woman movie still hasn't seen the light of day, that's not stopping some actresses from campaigning for the role now. One such actress is Jennifer Love-Hewitt, who recently found her TV show The Ghost Whisperer canceled. With no show and not a whole lotta, um, love out there, Love-Hewitt has been campaigning pretty hard for that Wonder Woman spot, despite the fact that she's probably a touch older than what producers would go after.

In a recent interview, Love-Hewitt was quoted (by WENN) as saying, "I really want to play Wonder Woman. I'm obsessed with Wonder Woman." And, well, I mean what actress whose television show was just canceled wouldn't want to play a big-time superhero in a giant blockbuster film? I say the gal should get on line behind Eliza Dushku, who also campaigned for the role at one point.
