Scoop This: Johnny Depp is a ‘Thin Man,’ Tucci, Harrelson Play ‘Hunger Games’ and Al Pacino Turns Gangster in ‘Gotti’

Depp and Marshall Reunite to Remake Thin Man

With the fourth Pirates of the Caribbean completed, Rob Marshall and Johnny Depp are teaming up to remake the 1934 crime dramedy The Thin Man. The story features Nick and Nora (not of the Infinite Playlist variety), a former detective and his rich, playful wife who solve a murder case mostly for fun while trading witty remarks with one another and drinking cocktails throughout their adventure. The original earned four Oscar nominations including Best Picture. With Depp set to play Nick, who do you think should play Nora? Take a look at the mash-up video below titled “Nick and Nora – Alcohol Moments,” and tell us who could fill Myrna Loy’s shoes.

Al Pacino Goes Gangster Again in Gotti
Al Pacino is returning to his gangster roots. Not as a Corleone, but instead, as a member of the Gotti family. The 71-year-old actor will play one of the Gotti  family’s underbosses and advisor, Neil Dellacroce. The mob movie has already cast John Travolta, Kelly Preston, Lindsay Lohan and Joe Pesci. What say you movie fans? Does the addition of Pacino (and Pesci) to this movie put it on your must-see list for 2013?
Woody Harrelson, Stanley Tucci Join In On Hunger Games
The Hunger Games adaptation continues to fill out it’s cast. The sci-fi dramatic thriller featuring Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen and Elizabeth Banks as Effie Trinket has added veteran actor Stanley Tucci as Caesar Flickerman. Flickerman is the smooth-talking host of the Hunger Games, described in the book as having powder blue hair, lips and eyelids while wearing a flashing blue suit. Pretty sure make-up and wardrobe are going to have fun with Mr. Tucci.
Woody Harrelson has also joined the cast as Haymitch Abernathy, the drunken former winner of the Hunger Games who helps train Katniss and Peeta.
Games fans, it’s been a while since we checked in with you. What are your thoughts on this latest round of casting news?
