Judge Dredd Is Back in This First Image
Scoop This: First 'Dredd' Image, Day-Lewis as Spielberg's 'Lincoln' and Crazy Tom Cruise Images
It's not an official still from the film, but it is a good look at what Karl Urban will look like as the new Judge Dredd in the upcoming Lionsgate film Dredd. Tweeted by the comic artist Jock, who's also working on the film as a concept artist, this image is said to come from rehearsals, which means it's probably not entirely finished. Even so, we do get a good look at the Dredd suit, which definitely differs from the cheesy suit worn by Sylvester Stallone in the 1995 film Judge Dredd. What do you think?
Daniel Day-Lewis to Play Abraham Lincoln in Steven Spielberg's 'Lincoln'
Talk about a whopper of an announcement, it was revealed today that Steven Spielberg has cast Daniel Day-Lewis in his long-in-development Abraham Lincoln biopic, which won't necessarily follow Lincoln from the time he was a small boy, but instead will pick things up during the Civil War, tracking Lincoln's battle against slavery and the powerful men in his cabinet.
The film will begin production late next year for release in 2012 during awards season. Day-Lewis won a Best Actor Oscar for his work on There Will Be Blood, and we should expect this to be another role with which he knocks clear out of the ballpark.
Tom Cruise Chills Out on Top of the World's Tallest Building
Say what you want about Tom Cruise, but never call the man coward. We saw shots of Cruise scaling the world's tallest building in Dubai last month while filming Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol, and now new images have surfaced that show Cruise perched at the very tippy top of the building while a helicopter circles him, recording footage that will either be used in the film, or as promotional material.
It took awhile for him to get up there, too, as reports suggest Cruise had to take three elevators, and then climb up more than 400 feet of ladder before reaching the top. Talk about something we'd actually LOVE to see in 3D. Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol is due out next year.
