Scoop This: Ferrell and Wahlberg Re-Team, Armie Hammer Is the Lone Ranger and Michelle Williams Is a Good Witch

Will Ferrell and Mark Walhberg Re-Team

Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg are re-teaming (because, you know, The Other Guys was such a rousing success) in a comedy about guys from football-obsessed towns who lead rival teams in an annual tackle football game. Titled Turkey Bowl, the football games will apparently feature a ton of cameos similar to the fight scene in Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgandy. Alec Baldwin has also signed on to play Wahlberg’s father and the script will be written by 30 Rock’s Owen Burke.

Armie Hammer Is the Lone Ranger
Armie Hammer, who shot to fame following his performance in The Social Network as the Winklevoss Twins, is about to take the next step, co-starring opposite one of the biggest movie stars in the world – Johnny Depp. Hammer has signed on to play the title role in The Lone Ranger. Depp has been attached as Tonto for almost three years. The film will be a reboot of the TV series, produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and directed by Gore Verbinski and, like Pirates, will bring a supernatural tinge to the genre. Filming begins this fall with a late 2012 release date scheduled.
Michelle Williams Is a Good Witch
In the ongoing behind-the-scenes skirmish to cast the Good Witch in Disney’s Oz, the Great and Powerful, the Mouse House has won. Disney has cast Michelle Williams in the role despite director Sam Raimi gunning for Hilary Swank. Williams joins fellow witches Rachel Weisz and Mila Kunis. In this adaptation of the classic The Wizard of Oz, Williams will team up with James Franco’s Oz to face off against the evil witch sisters played by Weisz and Kunis in a power struggle to control the magical land of Oz. Filming starts this July in Michigan and will drop into theaters Fall 2012.
