Scoop This: Bettany as 'Priest', the New Mad Max and Katie Holmes in 'Sex and the City 2'

The first image of Paul Bettany in the comic adaptation of Priest has arrived online in the form of the film's official website. Due out on August 13, 2010, Priest follows a warrior priest (just the kind I like) who turns against the church in order to track down a murderous band of vampires who've kidnapped his niece. Vampires, warrior priests and Twilight transplant Cam Gigandet (who's playing a young sheriff)? Count me in!

Will Jeremy Renner Become the Next Mad Max?
Here's what we know about a new Mad Max film: Mel Gibson will not be returning to reprise the lead role, but director George Miller is still very interested in putting a sequel together. They even tried to get one off the ground a few years back, but problems in Africa forced production to shut down.
Now, however, the fourth installment in the classic post-apocalyptic franchise is gaining some new speed as The Hurt Locker's Jeremy Renner talked it up recently, admitting to auditioning for the film. In chatting about his future projects with The Modesto Bee, Renner says, "I'm also fighting to do the new Mad Max film with George Miller. That might be next summer. I'm screen-testing and meeting George Miller."
Though you may not be all too familiar with Renner, he's seriously a stand-out in The Hurt Locker, which is a film – and an actor -- that I wouldn't be surprised to see come up again during Academy Award nomination time. Definitely a great choice to take over for Gibson in the Mad Max role, which is certainly a tough one to cast considering how iconic the character became after the three Gibson films. I look forward to seeing what they do with it. You?
Katie Holmes Offered Role in 'Sex and the City 2'?
After the first film (adapted from the popular TV show) made hundreds of millions of dollars, it was a pretty safe bet we'd see the girls from Sex and the City at least one more time. Jennifer Hudson joined them in the first go-round, and so which special actors (or actresses) will join Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda this time?
Well, a website called TVNZ claims Katie Holmes has been offered a role in the much-anticipated sequel, and that producers want her to play a "high-powered company executive who tangles with Samantha." While Holmes is sharp and no-nonsense, I'm not sure I'd buy her as a high-powered company executive since she seems a bit young for something like that. But you never know – maybe that's their angle, and Holmes is already very comfortable in New York City having starred in a play on Broadway last year.
For now, though, Holmes is busy shooting the film Don't be Afraid of the Dark down under, and Sex and the City 2 is due out in May 2010. What do you think of Katie Holmes joining the fabulous foursome?
