'Saw' Is Returning to Theaters for Halloween

Do you want to play a game? Lionsgate thinks you do and has revealed plans to bring the original Saw back to theaters for a week in celebration of the film’s 10-year anniversary.

To celebrate the birth of the iconic Jigsaw, the studio will rerelease the original Saw in theaters starting on Halloween. Select locations will start screenings on Halloween Eve.

Not only did the film launch Lionsgate, it also helped establish the careers of cocreators James Wan and Leigh Whannell. Wan and Whannell went on to create Insidious, and Wan has become a highly sought Hollywood filmmaker, with titles like The Conjuring and the upcoming Fast & Furious 7 on his resume.

The first Saw film still stands the test of time and remains one of the better horror films of this century. Tobin Bell’s original turn as the maniacal Jigsaw, coupled with the creepy Billy puppet and violent set pieces, helped propel Saw to over $100 million at the box office. Since the feature only had a budget of $1.2 million, it became one of the early templates for the many micro-budgeted horror films we see on screens today.

Who's joining us on Halloween for a little more Saw?
