Rumor: Bradley Cooper as Lex Luthor in 'Man of Steel?'

Citing downtime in his schedule due to the postponement of Paradise Lost,  Cosmic Book News is reporting a rumor that's sending shockwaves through the fanboy community, stating that Bradley Cooper is set for a cameo appearance as Lex Luthor in Zack Snyder's Man of Steel. Warner Bros. has neither, confirmed or denied this rumor as of yet.

General Zod (Michael Shannon) is indeed the principal villain in Snyder's Superman flick, but the mention of Luthor's name has hung around since this movie was announced.
Bringing Cooper in definitely ups the appeal for the female audience, but more importantly pits Henry Cavill's Clark Kent against an actor of similar age, but not close enough to be grudging high school buddies, i.e. Smallville.
This would certainly be inspired casting as Cooper isn't the first name that pops up in one's head when you think of guys who could (or would) play Lex.
While we wait to see if this rumor transforms into fact or is completely debunked, what do you think of Cooper possibly playing Lex? Would you rather have another actor play the role?
