“Why is America so Robo-phobic?”
Sony hopes audiences are not. The studio will be rolling out a reboot of the classic RoboCop with a fresh, global spin on the war-on-crime cop drama. The above trailer, the second piece of promotional material, improves on almost everything we have seen regarding Jose Padilha’s reboot to date. The effects are better. The plotline’s deeper than we expected (with the villains far more defined than they were before). For the first time since this project was announced, I’m legitimately excited about the new RoboCop.
Even though I’ll always have a special place in my heart for this:
At least the last shot in the full RoboCop trailer suggests he might ditch that jet-black Dark Knight suit and adopt the classic silver, which is so much better.
RoboCop stars Joel Kinnaman as the wounded police office Alex Murphy, who’s recruited for an experimental program when injured in the line of duty. The ensemble cast is superb, from Samuel L. Jackson and Michael Keaton to the always brilliant Gary Oldman. The movie has circled a release date of Wednesday, February 12, 2014. Will you grab tickets?
