Robert Pattinson as Daredevil?

Could Robert Pattinson go from moody vampire to moody superhero? The other day we told you about how Twilight: Eclipse director David Slade has signed on to direct a reboot of the 2003 Ben Affleck-starring superhero movie Daredevil. According to THR, Slade will adapt the critically-acclaimed graphic novel Born Again, penned by Frank Miller and David Mazzucchelli, which finds the Kingpin of Crime learning Daredevil’s secret identity, and then using it to destroy his life.

While that’s all well and good, Moviehole slipped a little tidbit into their Daredevil report that caused more than a few heads to turn. They claim Robert Pattinson is a person of interest when it comes to the lead role of Matt Murdock, though even they admit it’s way too early to consider this completely legit. Regardless of how much they want Pattinson – and how much he either does or doesn’t want to take on the role -- chances are Fox will try out a lot of the same guys who were up for Spider-Man, and if he doesn’t land The Hunger Games, I’m sure we’ll see Alex Pettyfer mentioned early on as well.
But let’s talk about Robert Pattinson first. Even if he doesn’t land this, do you think big superhero projects are in his future? As a guy who loves to tackle fairly obscure indie dramas in between Twilight installments, is he really the right actor for a superhero flick? It could win him some street cred with the geek crowd who think he’s sort of a joke because of Twilight – which is a plus – but can you really see him suiting up as Daredevil and fighting crime?
