Ricky Gervais will Host The Golden Globe Awards Again

Not really all that surprising, the HFPA has announced that Ricky Gervais will host the Golden Globe Awards again this year. The news comes following a year's worth of back-and-forth between Gervais and the HFPA regarding jokes that many feel crossed the line at last year's ceremony. But when you have high ratings in one hand and offending a few people here and there in the other, it's really a no-brainer to bring Gervais back, even with the risk of not knowing what he's going to say or who he's going to go after.

Proving he'll still be swinging for the fences, Gervais' first comments on Twitter following the announcement were, "Just told Billy Crystal he'd better not use any of my holocaust or pedophile material at The Oscars." So, yeah, prepare for him to be controversial yet again, though we hope it doesn't feel forced -- as if folks are desperately trying to mimic the sensationalism that came with last year's show. Will the edginess feel fresh or recycled? Part of us wishes Gervais stuck with his original plan to stage a live commentary podcast with special guests during the awards show, but we guess we'll settle for a tamer version on live TV.

What do you think? Can Gervais turn this year's ceremony into another one we'll talk about for months afterwards?

And to refresh your memory ...
