Release Dates: 'Evil Dead' Moves Up, 'The Heat' Moves Back and Danny Boyle's Latest Lands a Spot

A couple of anticipated films moved around the release-date calendar over the last 48 hours. Let’s catch up with the latest openings:
Fede Alvarez’s Evil Dead remake, which had to be recut to avoid the dreaded NC-17 rating, has moved up one week from April 12 to April 5. The news was confirmed on Twitter by original Evil Dead star Bruce Campbell … who serves as a producer on the remake.
On the other hand, Paul Feig’s buddy-cop comedy The Heat, which pairs Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy, has moved out of April to June 28. This also was reported on Twitter, this time by Exhibitor Relations. The action comedy will now face off against Kick-Ass 2 and Roland Emmerich’s White House Down with Channing Tatum and Jamie Foxx.
Lastly, Danny Boyle’s next film, Trance, had a UK release date but nothing for the States. Thankfully, that has changed. Fox Searchlight announced that the crime thriller, which stars James McAvoy, Rosario Dawson and Vincent Cassel, will open in limited release on April 5. To celebrate the news, the studio shared this mesmerizing poster. Boyle hasn’t made a new film since the riveting award winner 127 Hours. We can’t wait to see what he has up his sleeves.
