'Rampage' Jackson In Talks For 'Luke Cage'

When we last left the Luke Cage comic movie adaptation, Tyrese Gibson was tentatively attached to the role with John Singleton set to direct a “brutally violent R-rated” movie. That was five years ago. Since then, several other Marvel superheroes jumped to the big screen, namely Iron Man, Hulk, Thor and next week, Captain America. You can attribute this sudden revitalization of the Luke Cage movie to the upcoming Avengers movie, of which Cage is a prominent member.

Recently Isaiah Mustafa aka the Old Spice commercial guy participated in a photo shoot as Cage (which you can watch here) along with a promo video and the web was suddenly ablaze with Cage rumors. OK, maybe more like a tempered burn. Now we hear that MMA fighter and one-time B.A. Baracus, Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson is in talks for the role.

Certainly Marvel and Disney want to get a Luke Cage movie out there and with the Avengers movie joining a third Iron Man and a Hulk reboot in the works, now seems like a perfect time. Jackson, not lacking of confidence, has said, “I don’t think there’s anyone out there who would be a more believable Luke Cage than me.”

Do you agree? Are Terry Crews and Ving Rhames, though slighty older than Rampage, worth taking into consideration?
