K-Pop star Rain has gotten mighty ripped for his role as Raizo in Ninja Assassin. After watching him in his first major Hollywood role (as Taejo Togokahn) in Speed Racer, I wasn't too convinced he could pull off an assassin who was trained in the methods of killing from an early age. I changed my mind after watching him in /Film’s post of some fight choreography and stunt training.
As Assassin's producers, the Wachowski Bros. brought on the stunt team 87 Eleven, whose top-notch work can be seen in the Watchmen, 300, Matrix and Bourne films. While watching the vid, I couldn't help but notice how easy they make the intricate sequences look. One misstep could be catastrophic, but these martial artists execute their choreography like a graceful, upbeat dance. Last year begat fanboy comic book films galore, but nothing wow-worthy in terms of martial arts. Rain's lookin' good though, and I’m keeping my fingers crossed for this one.
