'Raging Bull' Sequel Announced, But Will You Watch?

It's been a busy week in sequel/remake/reboot land. Dumb and Dumber, The Woman in Black, Summer School, the Halloween franchise, The Mummy, Grown Ups 2 and Die Hard 5 have all posted newsworthy bulletins this week. Added to that, this morning, Disney announced that Captain America 2 will hit screens April 4, 2014.

Today brings the announcement that a sequel to Martin Scorsese's 1980 boxing classic, Raging Bull, starring Robert DeNiro as Jake LaMotta is underway. DeNiro won't reprise his Oscar-nominated role. Instead, veteran actor William Forsythe will take his place. A different Martin will helm this movie. Instead of Scorsese, Argentinean actor/director Martin Guigui will direct.

The plot will reportedly be a combination prequel and sequel that explore both the before and after rage elements of world middleweight boxing champ LaMotta's life and times. Dre Michael Chaney is also signed on to play a young Sugar Ray Robinson.

Moviehole has posted up a list of characters that Guigui is still looking to cast. While the film is set to film in Los Angeles in June and July, the question remains if people are interested in a follow-up over 30 years after the original movie hit theaters.

The film is slated for a 2013 release but will you be checking this movie out or should this classic be left alone?
