Quentin Tarantino: 'Inglorious Basterds' and 'Django Unchained' Could Be the First Parts of a Loose Trilogy

As the theatrical release date of Django Unchained approaches, writer-director Quentin Tarantino talked with Total Film magazine for its 200th Issue Collector's Edition and said that both Django and his previous movie Inglorious Basterds might form the first two parts of a trilogy.

"Inglorious Basterds and Django Unchained bespeak a trilogy. As different as they are, there is a companion piece quality. There might very well be a third one. I just don't know what it is yet."

Both films are stylized period pieces centered on social justice. Both star Christoph Waltz which lends to the possibility that Waltz might star in a third Tarantino movie.

So what might that third movie be? Could it be the 1930s gangster pic mentioned a few years ago? Perhaps Tarantino could kill two birds with one stone by bringing us the long-awaited Kill Bill Vol. 3?

Is there another period of history that you'd like to see Tarantino tackle in the same vein of Basterds and Django?
