Poll: What is Your Most Anticipated Movie for August?

Hard to believe, but the last month of summer is upon us. An overwhelming 53% of you picked Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 as your most anticipated movie and the box office results certainly prove it. The final Harry Potter movie is on its way to eclipsing $1 billion by August 1 and is the fastest movie to that total ever.

Not to be outdone, Captain America and Cowboys & Aliens tied with 20% of the vote for second place. While Captain America surged out of the gates to a $65 million opening weekend, Cowboys will be hard pressed to match that level of success this weekend. It opens opposite The Smurfs 3D, your most un-anticipated movie with under 1% of the vote.

As we look forward to August, plenty of action movies and comedies will hit the screen with a couple of horror flicks and dramas mixed in. Leading the comedy brigade are The Change-Up (Aug. 5) starring Jason Sudeikis and Ryan Reynolds, 30 Minutes or Less (Aug. 12) with Jesse Eisenberg and Aziz Ansari, and Our Idiot Brother (Aug. 26) with Paul Rudd in the title role.

If you’re looking for action, August features James Franco, Freida Pinto and Andy Serkis in Rise of the Planet of the Apes (Aug. 5) while Conan the Barbarian (Aug. 19) finally hits the screen with Jason Momoa in the lead role and Zoe Saldana is out for revenge in Colombiana (Aug. 26).

Horror gets a spotlight with a fifth installment of the Final Destination (Aug. 12) franchise while Guillermo del Toro-produced Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark (Aug. 26) stars Katie Holmes and Guy Pearce and a bunch of freaky looking creatures.

Anne Hathaway takes a dramatic turn in One Day (Aug. 19) while Emma Stone and Viola Davis are featured in The Help (Aug. 10). Finally, there’s a little something for families to enjoy with Spy Kids 4D: All the Time in the World (Aug. 19, screenings will include a Smell-O-Rama scratch-and-sniff pad) as well as the Glee 3D Concert Movie (Aug. 12).

With such a wide variety of movies to choose from, it’s your turn to tell us what your most anticipated movie for August is. Vote in our poll below and feel free to expand on your choice in the comment section.
