'Planes' Trailer: Meet a Hero Who's Afraid to Fly
Is a plane really a plane if it’s scared of heights and afraid of flying? That’s one of the questions proposed by Planes, a new Disney animated feature flying into theaters this summer.
Disney released a new, long trailer on AOL Moviefone. It’s tough for it to compete with the moody, inspirational tease that ran earlier this year. Using the music of composer Mark Mancina, that clip set a tone, whereas this new tease links the world of Planes to the existing Pixar universe of Cars. It’s not a direct sequel, so much as it is a story that occupies a similar environment. Either way, it looks like a lot of fun:
OK, I’ll admit, the line, "Ah, for flying out loud," made me laugh harder than I anticipated.
For those who don’t know the behind-the-scenes on Planes, it at one point was due to be a direct-to-DVD spinoff. But Disney saw greatness in its materials, and they saved it for theatrical release. Watching this new clip, it’s easy to understand why.
Planes stars the voice talent of Dane Cook, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, John Cleese, Brad Garrett, Teri Hatcher, Val Kilmer and Anthony Edwards. It will be in theaters on Aug. 9. Get your tickets now!
