There have been several stories lately regarding sequels to successful Disney films, from a possible Frozen 2 to a follow-up to Wreck-It Ralph. But while we wait for those movies to develop, an actual sequel has a legit release date later this summer -- Planes: Fire & Rescue, the follow-up to the hit animated feature Planes.
Directed by Robert Gannaway, Fire and Rescue moves plucky plane Dusty (Dane Cook) from a globe-trotting racer to a life-saving firefighter. And like the first movie, this one is soaring onto screens with breathtaking visuals and some tremendous flight photography.
The second full trailer for Disney’s Planes sequel landed online today, which we’re happy to share with the Family Room. It’s subtitled “Thunder.” You’ll be able to tell why:
Modern Family costar Julie Bowen joins the fun this time out, stepping in as a love interest for Cook’s aerial hero. Changing up the ensemble usually helps sequels as they seek fresh ground. And Planes also blazes trails for Disney and Pixar, which recently announced its own plans for sequels to The Incredibles and Cars.
Compare this new Planes trailer with the first one, which dropped weeks ago.
And enjoy this new poster.
Planes: Fire & Rescue will be in theaters on July 18, 2014. Our hopes are flying high for this sequel. How about you?
