Philip Seymour Hoffman Lands Plutarch Heavensbee Role in 'Catching Fire'

A while back when Philip Seymour Hoffman was rumored for the role of Head Gamemaker Plutarch Heavensbee in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, no one really batted an eye. Most Games fans were embroiled in the debate over who would play District 4 stud Finnick Odair and feisty District 7 Katniss/Peeta ally Johanna Mason.

While Jena Malone ended up with the Mason role, this weekend brought news that Hoffman has indeed been cast as the Heavensbee. Heavensbee is essentially the same character as Wes Bentley's Seneca Crane from the first movie. He'll control the day to day events of the 75th Hunger Games, otherwise known as the Third Quarter Quell.

With Heavensbee and Mason now cast, all eyes turn to the Odair role. Catching Fire is set to begin filming this fall, so a casting decision could be coming very soon.
