Peter Jackson's Christmas Present for 'Hobbit' Fans – Production Diary #5

Days after The Hobbit trailer premiered last week, director Peter Jackson teased that he had one more Hobbit-related surprise for fans which he would unveil on Christmas. True to his word, Jackson unveiled his fifth production diary, this time focusing on the grandeur of the production and the amount of work that is involved in putting the movie together.

His previous production diaries gave us a look at the pre-production prep work and opening ceremony, took us location scouting in the southern section of New Zealand during production break, talked with the cast and crew about their most memorable moment of production during the first block of filming and the most recent one highlighted the use of 3D cameras.

In this latest production diary, Jackson (along with Elijah Wood) detail the construction of Hobbiton and the massive undertaking of transporting all the equipment around to various locations.

Jackson also hints that the next production diary will be released early next month. The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey opens December 14, 2012.
