Peter Jackson to Direct 'Tintin' Sequel

With The Adventures of Tintin opening internationally tomorrow, Peter Jackson has confirmed that he would direct the sequel once he's done with The Hobbit.

Steven Spielberg, who directed this first Tintin adventure, said that they don't have a green light from the studio yet, but they've been allowed to develop the sequel to a point where it's good to go.

"Sony and Paramount were willing to do one movie with us then five us the financical wherewithal to develop a script, do all the visual storyboards and get it really in launch position. So we can launch pretty quickly on a second movie. The script is already written."

Spielberg remained coy though on any further Tintin movies stating that there had been no talk of extending the series beyond a second movie, which is titled Prisoners of the Sun.

Regardless, a second Tintin movie is at least two or three years off as Jackson is currently filming the two-part Hobbit movies. Meanwhile, Spielberg will be busy with Robopocalypse and this Abraham Lincoln movie along with a slew of other projects he's producing.

Based on what you've seen so far, are you interested in seeing more Tintin movies in the near future?
