Steven Spielberg, who directed this first Tintin adventure, said that they don't have a green light from the studio yet, but they've been allowed to develop the sequel to a point where it's good to go.
"Sony and Paramount were willing to do one movie with us then five us the financical wherewithal to develop a script, do all the visual storyboards and get it really in launch position. So we can launch pretty quickly on a second movie. The script is already written."
Spielberg remained coy though on any further Tintin movies stating that there had been no talk of extending the series beyond a second movie, which is titled Prisoners of the Sun.
Regardless, a second Tintin movie is at least two or three years off as Jackson is currently filming the two-part Hobbit movies. Meanwhile, Spielberg will be busy with Robopocalypse and this Abraham Lincoln movie along with a slew of other projects he's producing.
