'Paranormal Activity 5' 2013 Release Date Announced
It has become as predictable as the changing seasons, as inevitable as a national holiday on the annual calendar. But Paramount confirmed a release date for the fifth Paranormal Activity movie, which will reach theaters in October (like its predecessors).
Specifically, Paranormal Activity 5 will open on Oct. 25, 2013 … capitalizing on the Halloween spirit that usually drives audiences to a darkened theater in search of scares.
No details have been revealed about the direction of the sequel, though we can expect to hear casting news in the near future (and possibly the attraction of a director or directing team). Stay tuned for that news.
To be fair, the announcement of a fifth PA is a little bit surprising, if only because critics and audiences appeared to be lackluster to the recent Paranormal Activity 4.
Reviews don’t have to be over-the-top positive, so long as ticket buyers still turn out for the sequels. But PA4 only earned $53.5M … which was half of that PA3 earned the year before. This seems to suggest an apathy in the found-footage franchise. What can producers do to shake up the formula and bring a few fresh thrills back to the series?
