'Pacific Rim' to Be Converted to 3D Against Guillermo Del Toro's Wishes

Guillermo Del Toro is one of the few high-profile directors that has yet to make a 3D movie. That will change slightly now that Warner Bros. has "strong-armed" him into converting Pacific Rim into 3D.

Del Toro expressed his doubts about converting the film over to 3D earlier this year at Comic-Con, citing the enormous scope of the film.

The film centers around gigantic monsters known as kaiju who rise up and begin destroying the Pacific Rim region of the planet. Humans fight back, creating robotic suits known as Jaegers to take down the monsters.

The cast includes Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Rinko Kikuchi and Ron Perlman.

Despite the conversion, the film will still release on July 12, 2013. Will you watch the film in regular 2D or spring for the extra 3D effects?
