Oscar Nominations: 'Lincoln,' 'Les Mis' and 'Beasts' Lead Surprising List

And the winner of the Best Picture Oscar at this year’s Academy Awards will be … well, one of these nine movies.
Nine films were nominated for Best Picture this morning as Oscar host Seth MacFarlane and Easy A star Emma Stone revealed the nominees for the 85th annual Academy Awards. They are:
The biggest surprise of the morning likely ended up being the amount of love shown for Behn Zeitlin’s Beasts, which earned a Best Director nod for the young filmmaker (over the likes of Ben Affleck and Kathryn Bigelow) and a Best Actress nomination for the brilliant young talent Quvenzhané Wallis. A complete list of this year’s nominees can be found below. The Oscars will be held on Sunday, Feb. 24.
