On DVD: 'The Dark Knight Rises,' 'Beasts of the Southern Wild' (with Giveaways!)

The Dark Knight Rises Could any movie have topped The Dark Knight, whether in reality or in moviegoers' imaginations? Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy wraps up with this final installment, starring Tom Hardy as the marble-mouthed villain Bane, notorious for breaking Batman's back and almost taking down the civilized world in a sort of Occupy Gotham movement by way of terrorism. It's overlong and strangely conventional, but undeniably well made -- and Anne Hathaway absolutely steals the show as Catwoman. Extras: An hourlong featurette on the Batmobile over the years from comic to screen; featurettes on production, specifically the plane hijacking scene; a half-hour on the main characters (though, inexplicably, Joseph Gordon-Levitt isn't included); cinematographer Wally Pfister explaining his approach; four trailers and art gallery .

Extras: Making-of, theatrical trailer, sneak peek behind the scenes (DVD/BD); the BD adds deleted scenes with director Benh Zeitlin commentary, auditions, a featurette on the music and more.
