No Vampires or Werewolves Here; Kellan Lutz To Play Title Role in 'Hercules 3D'

Twi-hards, if you were wondering what Kellan Lutz would be up to now that Twilight movies are done, we've got good news for you.

As per what seems to be a new trend in Hollywood, the actor has been cast as the title character in Hercules 3D. Lutz's casting means we'll get a Hercules duel in theaters next year as Brett Ratner gets set to direct Dwayne Johnson in a different movie about the heroic son of Zeus.

THR states that director Renny Harlin's version of the character will be similar in tone to Ridley Scott's Gladiator. The film is targeting a March 2014 release.

"It takes more than a good physique to portray the most legendary, mythological personality in history – and Kellan has exactly that, personality," Harlin said. "He's not afraid to explore the strengths and vulnerabilities of the character, and he impressed me with his passion and heart."

This isn't the first time Lutz will portray a mythological figure. The actor previously starred as Poseidon in Tarsem Singh's 2011 CGI fantasy Immortals. He's also currently playing the title role in the motion-capture family flick Tarzan, which is currently filming.

Do you like Lutz in the role of Hercules and more importantly, do we need a second Hercules movie?
