News Briefs: See the First Photo from 'Magic Mike XXL'; Who Might Play Snake Plissken?

Magic Mike XXL

Magic Mike XXL: Steven Soderbergh shared a photo from the first day of shooting Magic Mike XXL, the sequel to the male-stripper drama he made in 2012. This time, however, the directorial reins have been handed to his longtime collaborator Gregory Jacobs, with Soderbergh serving as director of photography (under his nom de plume Peter Andrews) and film editor. Channing Tatum stars; the movie is set for release on July 1, 2015. [Twitter via The Hollywood Reporter]

Pacific Rim

Escape from New York: Rumor has it that the planned remake of Escape from New York will be "more team based," with supporting characters in the original transformed into full-fledged costars. And who will play Snake Plissken, the iconic leader essayed so memorably by Kurt Russell in John Carpenter's film? Charlie Hunnam (Pacific Rim) is said to be the top contender, with Jon Bernthal (TV's The Walking Dead) and Dan Stevens (The Guest) also in the mix. [Starlog]

You're Not You

You're Not You Trailer: ALS sufferer Hilary Swank needs a personal caregiver, and selects an unlikely candidate (Emmy Rossum) in what turns out to be a very life-affirming decision. Josh Duhamel also stars; watch the sincere and moving first trailer below. The movie opens in theaters on October 10. [MovieClips]
