News Bites: Watch RoboCop's First Pitch; Russian 'Transformers 4' Trailer

RoboCop at Comerica Park in Detroit

RoboCop: As part of RoboCop Day in Detroit, RoboCop visited local landmarks, did the weather on a local station, and then threw out the ceremonial first pitch at Comerica Park -- watch the video to see how he did. The honor was timed to coincide with the film's release on Blu-ray and DVD yesterday. In the photo above, RoboCop poses with Detroit Lions’ Nick Fairley, Detroit Tigers’ Rajai Davis, and mascot Paws. Transformers: Age of Extinction

Transformers: Age of Extinction Trailer: As a reminder that giant-robot action translates extremely well across national boundaries all over the world, take a look at the official Russian trailer for Michael Bay's Transformers: Age of Extinction. There are no subtitles, but, really, do you need them? The movie opens in the U.S. on June 27. [MovieClips]

Jupiter Ascending

Jupiter Ascending: For those of us anticipating the next trippy sci-fi adventure from the Wachowskis -- that's everyone, right? -- we'll have to wait a little longer. Due to delays in completing the visual effects, Jupiter Ascending has been delayed from its scheduled release on July 18 all the way to February 6, 2015. The movie is filled with complicated special effects, but as long as the finished product looks as good as the advance trailers, we'll be happy; Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis star in the thriller. I Am Legend

Untitled Ridley Scott Football Project: We heard last year that Ridley Scott wanted to make a morality tale about the effects of concussions on NFL football players, and was searching for writers to develop a script. Now comes word that Will Smith is in talks to star; also, Peter Landesman (Parkland) has been brought on board to write and direct the untitled project. It will be based on a GQ magazine article, "Game Brain" by Jeanne Marie Laskas, about the doctor who first brought awareness of the problem to the public's attention. [Variety]
