News Bites: Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe May Play 'Nice Guys'

L.A. Confidential and Gangster Squad

The Nice Guys: Shane Black, who most recently directed Iron Man 3, is next planning a film noir thriller entitled The Nice Guys, and Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe are being "courted to star," according to a report. The script, written by Black and Anthony Bagarozzi, revolves around the possible suicide of a porn star in 1970s Los Angeles that escalates into a full-fledged conspiracy; a private detective teams with a "muscle for hire" to investigate. 1984: In an act that is apparently without any sense of irony, police in Changmai, Thailand warned that screening a film version of George Orwell's 1984 would be illegal because it would "breach a ban on political gatherings." Currently under a state of martial law, political gatherings of more than five people have now been banned in Thailand, but "this is the first time the law has been applied to a movie screening." The Equalizer

The Equalizer Trailer: The newest trailer for The Equalizer reinforces the notion that the movie is a tough, smart and stylish action thriller.
