News Bites: Ridley Scott Expanding 'Halo;' New 'X-Men' Footage; 'Shaun the Sheep' Trailer

Halo 4.0

Halo: When Microsoft announced its Xbox One last year, we learned that Steven Spielberg would be producing a live-action TV series based on the popular Halo game franchise. Now comes word that Ridley Scott will be producing a live-action, "digital feature project" based on the game series. It will be released in chapters; Sergio Mimica-Gezzan, who served as assistant director on eight Steven Spielberg-directed movies, will helm the project, which is expected to be online by the end of the year. [The Wrap]

X-Men: Days of Future Past: Bryan Singer hosts a series of new videos that go behind the scenes of X-Men: Days of Future Past. They provide a fun peek at the mansion where the X-men go to school and more on Cerebro. The movie is out in theaters on May 23. [SlashFilm]

The Associate: Zac Efron, who costars with Seth Rogen in next month's raucous comedy Neighbors, continues to broaden his dramatic horizons. He will produce an adaptation of John Grisham's legal thriller The Associate, and will also star as a Harvard Law School graduate who is blackmailed by criminals into taking a position at "the world's largest law firm" so he can spy on them. Shia LaBeouf was previously linked to the role. [The Hollywood Reporter]

Shaun the Sheep Trailer: Ardman Studios, the British animators responsible for the beloved Wallace & Gromit and Chicken Run, are working on a big-screen version of Shaun the Sheep, a character who had his own TV show for several years. The first teaser suggests a little more postmodern spin for the story, which follows Shaun as he decides to take a day off, inadvertently causing trouble for the Farmer and requiring a trip to the Big City. The movie's due out in the spring of 2015. [Hey U Guys]
