San Andreas: Dwayne Johnson stars as a helicopter pilot searching for his daughter in the upcoming 3D earthquake disaster movie San Andreas. He shared the first photo from the movie, due out on June 5, 2015; Carla Gugino and Alexandra Daddario also star. [MovieWeb]

Star Wars: Episode VII: Director J.J. Abrams has apparently been meeting with nearly everyone in Hollywood about Star Wars: Episode VII and we heard last week that five front-runners had emerged for the male lead. Now comes word that Academy Award winner Lupita Nyong'o (12 Years a Slave) has been reading for a "major female role," though it may not necessarily be the lead female role. The Incredibles 3D: Pixar has been steadily rereleasing its earlier movies in 3D, and the next two on the schedule are The Incredibles (2004) and Ratatouille (2007), both directed by Brad Bird. While the work is ongoing, no release strategy has been determined yet. Inside Out, Pixar's next new 3D movie, will be released on June 19, 2015. [Screen Daily]

Almost Home Short: With Mr. Peabody & Sherman launched, DreamWorks Animation now turns its attention to its next release, Home, heading for theaters on November 26, 2014. A new short film Almost Home, featuring the voice of Steve Martin, sets up the story, as a race of cute alien creatures searches for a new home planet. [20th Century Fox]
