New 'Pacific Rim' Trailer Promises More Robot-on-Monster Carnage

Last night, I managed to get to a preview screening of Ruben Fleischer’s Gangster Squad, a period crime thriller starring Ryan Gosling and Josh Brolin that was filmed for Warner Bros. And to my surprise, the studio had a reworked trailer for Guillermo del Toro’s anticipated Pacific Rim attached to the front of the Squad print.

You might be able to see it on the big screen ahead of Gangster Squad this weekend, as well, but if not, here’s a tiny, online version.

This clip also reportedly premiered at the International Consumer Electronics Show at Las Vegas … hence, the watermark at the bottom of the screen. But it continues to give you an idea of the scope of the massive summer blockbuster, which features skyscraper-sized robots piloted by brave humans facing off against gigantic monsters who emerge from the depths of the oceans.

Pacific Rim will blast into theaters on July 12, and we may get one or two more trailers to marvel over before that release date. For now, though, are you excited for del Toro’s latest?
