New on DVD: 'A Dangerous Method,' 'Extremely Loud,' 'The Bodyguard' on Blu and One Night Only in Theaters

A Dangerous Method This movie based on a book and play about the clash between Carl Jung and Sigmund Freud seems like an odd choice for David Cronenberg (Dead Ringers, The Fly) to take on, and if Rotten Tomatoes is a good indication, it worked for critics but not so much for audiences. In it, Viggo Mortenson and Michael Fassbender play Freud and Jung respectively, who are on the cutting edge of modern psychoanalysis. Jung encounters a young woman out of her mind (Keira Knightley), he treats her using Freud's methods, they have a torrid affair, and later the two men eventually have a falling out. Extras: Director commentary, making-of feature, AFI seminar with Cronenberg (DVD/BD)

Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close A young boy (Thomas Horn) embarks on a quest to find out what a mysterious key unlocks after his father (Tom Hanks) is killed in the 9/11 attacks. "What are the cluuuuees?" Extras: Making of, "Finding Oscar," "Ten Years Later," "Max Von Sydow: Dialogues with the Renter" (directed by Von Sydow's son)

Hop A mix of live-action and animation, Hop stars Russell Brand as the voice of a rebellious bunny and the slacker who dreams of being a rock star drummer. Extras: The BD/Combo pack includes loads of features like an interactive map, drum-along, virtual board game, "All Access with Cody Simpson" and many more that the kids will enjoy.

Alvin and the Chimpunks: Chipwrecked This time around, the Chipmunks and Chipettes get stranded on a remote island after falling overboard from a cruise ship. Without manager Dave (Jason Lee), can they find a way to survive, and get home? Extras: One featurette and Munk Music & Dance Machine song collection (DVD/BD); the BD and 2-disc DVD adds more sing-alongs, extended scenes, featurettes, ”In Character with Jason Lee” and lots more.

In the Land of Blood and Honey Angelina Jolie's directorial debut is a romance set against the backdrop of war, as two people from opposing sides are just getting to know each other when conflict breaks out in the Balkans, testing both their relationship and their allegiances.

Breaking Wind: Unrated Director's Cut Lionsgate presents this spoof on its own Twilight series, from the writer behind The 41-Year-Old Virgin Who Knocked Up Sarah Marshall and Felt Superbad About It.

New to Blu

The Bodyguard
Would this 1992 film have gotten the Blu-ray treatment if Whitney Houston hadn't passed away earlier this year? Who can say, but it's available now in high-def glory starring Houston as a pop diva who clashes--then falls for--the stern bodyguard assigned to protect her (Kevin Costner). Extras: "I Will Always Love You" video, featurette: "Memories of The Bodyguard."

Special Release: Want to see it on the big screen? You can tonight, March 28, at select theaters. To find out if and where it's playing in your area, check our listings.
