'New Moon' director Chris Weitz NOT Retiring

Director Chris WeitzTwi-hards, you can breathe a sigh of relief. New Moon director Chris Weitz isn't leaving the world of cinema just yet. Rumors that he's retiring after directing The Gardener hit the mill last week with an interview with Moviemaker Magazine.

In his recent interview with Variety, he dispelled those rumors, saying his New Moon experience "reinvigorated" him after the rough treatment he got from The Golden Compass.
"This was a wonderful experience by comparison. I got to work with terrific young actors at the top of their game, and see Taylor Lautner perform so well."
That's awesome news for the Twi-verse, since its legion of fans that saw the film over the record-breaking weekend liked it so much they went back for multiple viewings! Sure, we can see why Weitz's exhaustion after filming would spur him to swear off movies in interviews. The fact that he's working so hard and treating every film like it's his last is actually a positive thing. Although Eclipse already belongs to director David Slade, Weitz may be back in the running for Breaking Dawn—which is rumored to be split into two parts!
What do you think about Weitz returning to the Twilight franchise? Would you want him to direct BD Part 1? Part 2? Or both? Chime in below.
