New Images of Jake Gyllenhaal from 'Prince of Persia'

Holy shirtless, long-haired Jake Gyllenhaal! Two new photos of the hunky star in full Prince of Persia gear have hit the net (courtesy of The Huffington Post), and while they don’t look to be official publicity stills from the film, they do show off a very half-naked, unshaven Gyllenhaal in all his big-budgeted glory.

Disney’s Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time isn’t due out in theaters until May 28, 2010, but already there’s lots of buzz that this could be the studio’s next great Pirates-esque franchise. The first film – which is based on the popular video game series – tells of an adventurous prince (Gyllenhaal) who teams with a rival princess (Gemma Arterton) to stop an evil ruler from unleashing a sandstorm that could destroy the world.

I managed to visit the London set of Prince of Persia last year, and I can certainly vouch for its awesomeness (even though these early images may be catered more toward those ladies in search of their weekly dose of hot, shirtless celebrities).  We’re talking ancient cities, fantastic battles (which include Jake running up the sides of walls) and plenty of never-before-seen special effects. So don’t get too down if you’re a wicked fan of the source material and you’re somewhat bothered by the plethora of sexy-man Gyllenhaal images. There’s more badassery on the way … and we wouldn’t be surprised if the first Prince of Persia trailer debuted within the next month or two, so stay tuned…
