Brett Ratner's Hercules arrives in theaters next month, and we have a new trailer for the film, starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson as the eponymous hero. The movie is based on the graphic novel Hercules: The Thracian Wars, but the son of Zeus has been a familiar figure in film for decades.
It looks like Ratner's version is heavy on the beasties, as we're treated to a glimpse of a vicious Cerberus almost immediately. That's the three-headed hellhound who guards the underworld. The film follows the demigod Hercules, who has become a sword for hire after enduring his legendary 12 labors and the loss of his family. Herc's skills are put to the test when the King of Thrace and his daughter seek his help in defeating a tyrannical warlord.
If hulking men at battle and mythological monsters aren't enough to get you in a theater seat, then we have three other reasons you should see Hercules on July 25: Ian McShane, Ian McShane, Ian McShane.
