Just when you thought the concept of resurrecting the whole Scream series was dead on arrival, even with Courtney Cox and David Arquette on board, comes word that Neve Campbell is coming out of hiding to reprise her role as Sydney, the long-suffering heroine who seems to attract slashers like bees to honey. The movie starts production in spring of 2010 and word is, WesCraven possibly will return to direct.
According to a press release today, it's part of a push by Dimension Films to get back to its roots, with a new emphasis on 3-D. Says studio head honcho Bob Weinstein, "I'm heading back to my franchise films. These films are our strength, and we are committed to doing them in style." Plans are also in the works to to shoot sequels to Hellraiser, Scanners and Spy Kids 4 in 3-D. And as if we needed them, Bob plans to remake Children of the Corn, Short Circuit and An American Werewolf in London.
Good ideas or bad retreads? And what do you think of Neve's return?
