'Monsters, Inc.' Scares Up 3D Re-Release Trailer, Poster

Depending on where you stand with the whole 3D re-release strategy by Disney, you're either eagerly awaiting the 3D re-release versions of Finding Nemo and Monsters, Inc. or dismissing it as a studio gimmick to syphon money out of your hands.

Regardless of where you stand, today we get the 3D re-release trailer for Monsters, Inc., edited with some of the highlight scenes from the film. Monsters, Inc. first hit theaters back in 2001, amassing over $525 million worldwide. The re-release, which is scheduled for December 19, will look to nudge that number up a few more million.

The film hits theaters on a holiday weekend that is surprisingly light on family fare. Aside from The Hobbit, the majority of the films opening around Christmas are expected by be comedies, dramas and action films aimed at PG-13 and above audiences.

If you haven't seen Monsters, Inc. in a while, take a look at the new trailer and poster below. Will you be checking this 3D re-release out? Have the previous Disney 3D re-releases (Lion King, Beauty and the Beast) made you think twice about watching Nemo and Monsters in 3D?
