Even though it's impossible to pin Mondo's collectible movie posters under one stylistic banner (the artistic variety is what makes them great, after all), there is one commonality that they almost all invariably share: they could never be studio movie posters. Oh, sure, their posters are often more interesting than a studio's own poster for the same movie - case in point, Cowboys & Aliens - but that's because there goal is to create radical departures from the mainstream world of poster art and to hire artists who are going to interpret the selected films through their own film geek prism. Even when the poster in question is commissioned by an actual studio, they never look like something a studio would make on their own.
That's not exactly the case with J.C. Richard's new Jurassic Park poster, their second in a series of licensed posters of Spielberg's classic film, tied to this week's release of the trilogy on Blu-ray (read our review of that great set). This looks like a long-lost poster for the film -- like you could have seen it on the walls of your local cinema back in 1993, and I kind of love that about it.
If you love it, too, then follow @MondoNews on Twitter this Thursday (10/27) for info on how you can snag this 24''x36'' poster for $45. And as with all Mondo sales, if you are dying for the print, we recommend you keep a very keen eye that day as there are only 375 of these being made.
